Daul Kim will always be one of my favourite models. She was just so real. I followed her blog religiously and fell in love with her profoundness. I feel so sad knowing that there won't be any more posts from her in the future. Daul's blog was so uncontrived, three words - stream of consciousness. I don't even know what to write. When i first saw them, i didn't like them at all. But now, i finally understand their appeal and the reasoning behind its current 'it bag' status. They're light, can take a good bashing and most importantly, they come in every colour imaginable! Meaning 'fold' in french, these pliage bags are convenient for travel and decently priced considering it's French heritage. From experience, people who own these bags suffer from colour addiction - visiting the store every 6 months to see new season colours. This season, my top picks are Bilberry (a dark purple colour pictured above) and Taupe. Last season, my love went out to Mandarin (bright vibrant orange) and Nutmeg (a yellow mustard colour). Brisbane and Melbourne dwellers can visit their local Hunt Leather store for their seasonal pliage fixes whilst Sydneysiders have the option of two flagship stores (in the MLC Centre and the QVB). Our friend Melanie, fondly known as the baby of the group, recently turned 18. To celebrate the wonderous occasion, the friendships and i went clubbing on saturday night/sunday morning at Pump House in Darling Harbour! Best decision made that day = wearing flat shoes. Actually, it was a lesson learnt the hard way. Foolishly, i wore heels to work and experienced the origins of immense pain. Luckily, my mother bought me new - now trashed - boots during my break and the day was saved. This is what my friend Kate and i wore respectively :)

Choosing one over the other is really hard! It really depends on your lifestyle and personality because both wallets have their pros and cons. The most obvious question you should ask yourself is - Do you want a long wallet or short wallet? Which is more practical for you? You can find all the specifications - number of credit card slots etc - on the Official Louis Vuitton Website. Personally, i prefer the Brazza. I bought it knowing that i would use it with every Vuitton bag i have and will have in the future. I find the design to be really...handsome. Yes, i just called my wallet handsome! But it's true! The way it elegantly folds out, the simplicity of the design, i've never felt cooler spending money - which probably isn't a good thing. However, one criticism people have of the Brazza is that it is a very mascauline wallet. Funny thing is, that makes me like it even more because i can be very androgynous at times with my apparel. The koala on the other hand is like the polar opposite of the Brazza. I think the best adjective would be ultra-feminine. The blazing bright red interior is so sharp and sexy it screams! Unfortunately, the gold covered brass closure will get scratched and you will embarrasingly spend 5 minutes trying to get a stupid coin out of your wallet. However, it's worth it because you will get a tonne of compliments for owning one of the blingiest wallets Louis Vuitton has to offer! Now before you take the plunge, have a good think about it. I definitely recommend you go and visit your local flagship store and see both wallets for yourself. Have a talk to the SA and decide then if you are still unsure. Like i said, i love both wallets for their own reasons. But, if i could only have one, it would be the Brazza...Did i mention how amazing it looks when hot-stamped? ;) Good luck with you decision and be sure to tell me which one you end up choosing!

These pictures of Ali Michael and Nick Woronowicz for the Last Magazine Spring/Summer editorial are really lovely - my favourite being the picture above. Their expressions are so soft and for once, i am not disturbed by the thought of pre-pubescent love...blame Shakespeare for that one. Really though, i am incredibly taken by these images. Everything is just so unconventionally pretty! I mean, i generally don't like using the word pretty because of that phrase we all know too well - 'pretty isn't beautiful', but just this once, pretty seems like the most appropriate adjective to use. The lighting, the models, the poses, the simplicity in the styling, it's just so...pretty.

LADY DIOR. I've actually been wanting one for a while now, but after reading Noeleene's pos t, i realised i never came around to blogging about it! Designed in the 1990's when Gianfranco Ferre (God rest his soul) was creative director of Dior, the Lady Dior handbag was popularised by Diana, Princess of Wales. To this day, many associate elegance and female propriety with this magnificent handbag, loving the history behind it as well as the great women who carried it. I guess i'm one of those women, i really adore items that come with wonderful anecdotes. I love knowing why and how things came to be. Because of all these factors, the Lady Dior is a screaming classic to me. I truly believe that i will continue to love it and lust after it until the day it is mine. With that said, Lady Dior's do not come cheap because of the craftsmanship that goes into these beauties. Last time i visited Dior, the handbag cost roughly around AUD3000 depending on the size. Since the act of yearning is often rather depressing, i don't think i will try and remember the exact price until i achieve ridiculously good grades or win the lotto. As we head into winter, we look at past and present collections and editorials for guidance. Look what we found! Louis Vuitton monogram stockings from their F/W collections appearing in Vogue Paris two years in a row! Raquel photographed in August last year and Natasha who appears in the latest June/July issue are both decked out entirely in Louis (pictured below). Also, the lolita-esque picture of Skye Stracke above shows us in detail just how they look. We LVoe these stockings, but unfortunately, we would never fork out £155 (around AUD300) for an item that is destined to rip :(

The gloomy Sydney weather didn't rain on my parade today because i bought the Louis Vuitton Eva Clutch :D The one i blogged about here. Originally i wanted the bag in Monogram Canvas, but after trying both on, i chose the Damier Ebene version! I lvoe it even more than before because it fits my big and long Damier Ebene Brazza wallet :) This means i'm on a bit of a Louis ban...that is of course, until i fall head over heels for another bag! Since there are two bags in my hand, the Eva wasn't all that was purchased. It joins my family collection today along with a pair of Men's Latitude Derby shoes in Taiga and Calf Leather and a Damier Ebene Koala Wallet. I'll post pics...eventually. Haha, unless there is a request, i will take the lazy path and post when i feel like it :)

I found these snaps at foto decadent and immediately fell in love. I'm a huge fan of Slimane, especially his portraits. His photographic delivery - the simple, black and white crystal clear shots - has become his signature, where his subjects exude incredible potency. The editorial itself pays tribute to the male supermodels of the 90's - Mark Vanderloo, Greg Hansen, Werner Schreyer, Larry Scott, Andre Van Noord. Since Slimane is the father of heroin chic, the men are unsurprisingly painted as sexy, dark and mysteriously punk characters. It's all in their faces, their poses, their attitude, they're real men. Mascaulinity is written all over their candid expressions. They're fearless, they take pride in their fine lines and allow us to get up close and personal. The title of the editorial really says it all. They were the first 'super-models' in the male modelling industry, and they prove to you why. They won't have any of that nancy boy business. *Sigh* 'Super-Models' demonstrates true physical beauty. I mean, to be able to age and still have a strikingly effective hold over someone, how many people can do that?

Yves Saint Laurent's legacy will always be the Le Smoking tuxedo suit. He was the first man to put women in pants and for that alone, all ambitious, independent women are indebted to him - big time. I don't think i will rest peacefully unless i can own a Le Smoking suit one day.. i mean, it is one of my many ambitions in life! The paradigm of the YSL woman prompts admiration. She is simply bad ass, cigarette in hand as she wears her dramatic black suit. Accentuating her small waist through the high waisted style of the pant, the androgny level is determined by the blouse of choice (or lack of if you're daring enough). The sharp cut defines her physique through exageration, where her legs appear strikingly long when she struts her stuff! Le Smoking is such an icon because it's where female androgyny and empowerment - in a sartorial sense - began, the idea of the YSL woman is even admired by Carine Roitfeld who had this to say:

"You know the idea of the Saint Laurent woman. What a dream she was: wearing trousers, hand in the pocket, no handbag, transparent shirt. I love that woman. It is exactly who I would have loved to be if I could choose. So I would have to go blonde because he loved the blondes, and I would have to have bigger breasts. But it's the idea of the woman I love, and I try to repeat this in my magazine (Vogue Paris)."

It's times like this i wish i lived in America. In the past, quite a few H&M capsule collections (Comme des Garçons for H&M) have made my heart skip a beat, but when i laid eyes on pieces from the Matthew Williamson for H&M collection a few months ago (pictured above), i...squealed. Now, if a few images can evoke a squeal, just imagine what a video can do. When i viewed the video for the capsule collection a few days ago (below), i literally died, went to commercial retail heaven and came back! It's so fresh with it's 'fighting against the mainstream message' and electronic music that simultaneously serves as dialogue. Matthew Williamson himself appears to be both a meteorite - yes you read correctly - and a fruity English pimp whilst Daria Werbowy's presence is love because i've missed her so :) If it wasn't obvious enough, the video is highly recommended.

Named after the supermodel herself - Eva Herzigova, the Eva Clutch can be worn across the shoulder with the vachetta strap, on the shoulder with the gold chain or as a wristlet! I must admit, i'm not the biggest fan of monogram canvas because of the 'she's asian therefore she got her bag for $20 from the markets in thailand' stigma.. but this bag is too charming for words! It fits all your essentials - phone, gloss, cards, cash and although it's ideal as a night bag, this picture below shows how wonderful it looks when dressed down for the day! I'm in LVoe and somehow, i will convince my parents to buy it for me seeing as i have no income :(

Yes, all my recent entries are about models, but I can't help it that they're fabulous! Natalia Vodianova is no exception. Yes, she kinda looks 15 sometimes, but the 7th highest earning model is loved by all! She doesn't need the money from modelling these days as she married 'the Honourable Justin Trevor Berkeley Portman' (lol) - a British real estate heir, so it's no surprise her recent appearances are those to shows, award ceremonies, parties etc. Her style is a bit of everything, and you can see how versatile she is from the outfits below.

I ♥ Liya Kebede. She's a mother of two, loving wife, great model and most importantly, not a diva - a character trait many associate with african models because they've only heard of Naomi Campbell. Liya's modest look allows her to be sexy without looking like she belongs in the red-light disctrict. What i also envy about her is the fact that she seems like one of those women who've never had a crazy 'Betsey Johnson, Vivienne Westwood-wearing, party like it's 1989' phase, which i believe, all young women go through...at some stage.

The dynamics of university from the eyes of a nubkin.

After my lecture and tutorial today with familiar faces, i had to fend for myself for a whole hour and a half. Usually, that time flies past because you are having an ace time with friends, but when you are alone, you begin to feel as if time dilation existed in the real world. So, i wandered and i roamed, and when i found a place for myself to nest on, i began to study those around me. These university students were either (in order of frequency):

Alone - Reading, eating, chatting on phones, typing on laptops, scribbling in notebooks

With their significant others

Hanging within their own ethnicity groups

Hanging with friends they already knew from high school

Hanging with people they just met

I think, i'm just really tired and exhausted from having a routine. After a four month holiday of funtastical adventure, it's really hard to get back into the daily grind. I suppose all i can do is jump and see where i land...hopefully with a splat.

Now, i'm a huge fan of Georgina Stojiljkovic despite the fact that people think she looks like she has a gunk of funky smell under her nose. Personally, i think she has face. Striking cheekbones, pillowy lips, open eyes, an impartial mysterious gaze and impeccable bone structure, Donatella Versace and i are one the same wavelength when it comes to this model. Using Georgina as her model of choice for this Spring's Atelier Versace showcase - which you can only see in real life if you make a private appointment - the collection is clean, elegant, structured and most importantly bold. Every gown - imo - is a show stopper and very red carpet. Now, enough chat, let us lust over them!

AHHHHH! My university (college for all you foreigners!) - Macquarie University - finally opened it's train station today! Although it will still take a while to get there, it won't be as bad cause i won't need to take a bus...seriously, i hate buses. So it took 7 long years to build this underground railway and cost 1.2 billion dollars, yes, holey moley indeed, but it sure as hell is swanky! Here are some pictures of the amazing architecture below that i took with my phone. Now, if you don't live in Australia, you'll probably be like - 'eh, nothing spesh, looks pretty average', but our state railway services are considered extremely poor for a developed country, so this is a big deal damnit!

So today I attended orientation week at uni with my friends Joselyn and Leanne. Besides experiencing the festivities, we also sat in Leanne's modern history lecturer and boy, her lecturer was one hell of a looker! I'm not going to elaborate any further incase this gets googled but he was really cute - in a mid 30's early 40's tall dark handsome kind of way. I think that knowing he obtained a great amount of intellectual substance made him cuter but he's married of course! Interesting fact Leanne just told me, teacher student relationships are allowed, LOL EW! Never say never? No really, i say never! Since Joselyn and i don't actually study modern history, we began scribbling on scrap paper and i was fortunate enough to get an old planner that had hilarious messages inside. This one was definitely the highlight, a message that ran across three pages reading :

This caused an outburst of laughter, because BIN JUICE REALLY DAMN STINKS! Upon reflection, it was a good day with lots of laughter, where our only complaint was of the humid climate and constant battle with our very own fitness levels. Another highlight was recieving freebies, heaps of them! We got a whole load of random crap - frisbees, candy, headbands with bug antennas on them, inflatable lips, fingertraps and at one point, were offered condoms, from not one, but two stalls :\

Now onto the style! I'm all about the elegant look, but when it comes to uni, keep it simple, keep it clean, you really look like a fool when you overstyle. I think it is time to invest in sneakers! Although sneakers have never really been my style, i'm beginning to embrace the practicality of them and recently bought a pair of Lacoste Isanti Mids in black and lavender to wear to classes (pictured below).

Yes people, i'm thinking, baggy tops, lots of t-shirts, clean cuts, denim, leggings, cheapy cheap sunglasses you won't regret losing - comfort, things you literally throw on in the morning because you're too tired to think of what to wear. Here are some prime examples of what i mean:

Afterall, you're there to learn and i personally, really don't mind if people can't accept me because i choose to let go of myself and not wear make-up and dressy clothing! I mean look below, i'm having the time of my life!

The Yves Saint Laurent Y-mail series has recently caught my eye! It comes in colours - black, gold and silver, my favourite being the black of course! I find the effortless, nonchalant cursive writing really charming but i'm not sure if i would still like it after a few looks, y'know? I like items that grow on you, and look as good if not better than the first day you bought it. Gah, I wish there was a YSL store in Sydney so i could see the merchandise. Actually, correction, i wish there was just a flagship store in Australia! I feel rather deprived that we don't have Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, Chloe, YSL and other fabulous luxury brands because it pressures alot of women to buy online. Maybe it's just me but i'm a try before you buy kind of girl and buying luxury brands online isn't as fun as being in the store yourself! After all, you're paying so much money, why not enjoy every fine detail?

It's New York Fashion Week Fall 2009 and the way i write runway posts are simple. If i can find more than five looks that i like from a coherent collection, it is deemed good. I've always believed that one day, somewhere along the path, i was going to age with Prada, but not if they keep sticking ugly plastic looking jewels on their bags! I love the SS09 campaign because if sensationalism could be applied to fashion, this would definitely be a prime example. Making everything look better than what it really is...à la Chloé SS09, you unfortunately cannot hide the ridiculousness of the pietre bags on Neiman Marcus. You would think that Prada learnt from their resort collection how ugly that lumpy mess was, but its translation into the spring collection is equally as distasteful. We're in a recession! People are either going to buy timeless pieces or splurge on things that pop. I wondered, why are there practically no blogs discussing Prada SS09 bags? Answer: Because they're pretty ug. Oh well, at least we all know now. If anyone actually owns a pietre bag and LOVES it, feel free to comment! I would really like to meet someone who does not share similar views as myself when it comes to these bags.

You know, my love affair with Mr. Vuitton hasn't always been smooth sailing, our relationship has infact been one of love and hate. If you met me a few years ago, i admit that whenever i saw someone with an LV bag i'd cringe. But nowadays i would say to you - 'i don't care that i'm asian man, i LVoe LV!' I think it all began when my ignorant little self walked into the Sydney Global Store and did i get one hell of an eye opener. A good majority of the clients were asian, not browsing but purchasing, and this most definitely caused me to change my default reaction whenever i saw an asian lady or man carrying LV. Instead of brushing it off as fake these days, i actually need to think about it. But still, why oh why is LV so popular? The answer is simple, it never goes on sale. You will never find a bag or any other item that tickles your fancy for less than what it is worth in a flagship store, and because of that, it is worth every penny and keeps the clients coming back. No wonder they encourage people to start up accounts, the reality is that people of all races, men and women, LVoe knowing that they'll never be cheated on or betrayed by Louis Vuitton. All good relationships are about trust, honesty and security people. Based solely on that, Louis deserves icon status.

Being an asian lady myself, i totally wish for the success and emergence of more asian models. Because not all are traditional beauties, i sometimes fear that they represent the entire race to the western world. Well, they don't. I suppose the great thing about asian models is that they are great hangers, tall, naturally thin, amazing porcelain skin. An icon to the millions of tween gossip girl lovers, i to this day cannot comprehend the fact that Taylor Momsen is 15 years old. Her look is way too mature for her age! Perhaps actress life is causing her to dress too big for her shoes - hair, makeup, heels, micro mini dresses, the whole shebang. Since she looks like a twenty something year old now, she's gona look 40 years old without makeup before she reaches the age of 25 - not a pretty sight! Honestly, she won't be able to leave the house without makeup and when you get to that stage, it's very hard to be saved. When people see her without makeup they will absorb the shock that is her face and consequently ask her the question that offends many regular make-up wearers, it goes a little something like this - 'woah [insert name of sickly faced friend], you don't look too good today, are you like sick or something?' This then leaves you feeling shocked because she genuinely looks like she has some highly contagious virus and all you wanted to do was offer your concern. As for the 'i can almost see what she ate for breakfast' dresses, isn't she just that tad bit too young to give off the pseudo feminine ' i walk the streets fo' money' vibe? She's still a minor! With all that said, the green monster within me wishes to own a few pieces from her wardrobe.

Happy Valentines Day! Last night/This morning, Sarah and I partied at Havana along with our most closest and dearest friends! It was much better than any other clubbing experience i've had (not many lol) for two main reasons - we went as a large group and because they played Hip-hop/R&b. Despite this, it was also rather sucky for one main reason - seedy men! What the hell are guys thinking these days? Just because you think you're apeshit don't mean you are! Honestly, pretending to be a lesbian or lying about your status is hard work! Men, women DO NOT appreciate being treated as a piece of meat you can air sex with from behind! Technically, you are violating her as she does not give you consent to get down and dirty with her derrière, just...dont do it. Seriously, every guy that attempted anything of such was barking up the wrong tree. Also, it made me think, what does that guy take us girls for? Some easy meat? So thats what he must think if hes game enough to pull such a stunt, what a clever form of insult. As for us girls, no, we are not prudes, and i in particular do not want to be called a stupid bitch for not wanting to humiliate and degrade myself by dancing with a guy that looks like an ape but thinks the sun shines out of his ass. Don't get me wrong, it can be fun to party and dance with the opposite sex, but only with consent. This contemplation of dancefloor politics then brought me to my climatic revelation which went a little something like this:

'If male company equates to having to settle for disgusting very unwholesome dudes, then i dont mind my past 18 manless Valentines Days!'

Since i'm from the land down under, it's time to pay homage to my fellow, uh...country women? The recent influx of Australian models in the blue-chip modelling circuit have caused quite a stir within the fashion community, causing many to ask the question - Are Australians the next Canadians? Here are a few models that have made a mark for themselves on a global scale:

Abbey Lee Kershaw - You either love her or you hate her.

Alice Burdeu - Definitely the best thing to come out of any Top Model.

Catherine McNeil - Campaign Queen Catherine recently took a break but her impressive resume is not one that can be easily forgotten.

Gemma Ward - Getting ready to make her highly anticipated comeback, Gemma Ward is as Nick Knight puts it, 'one of the very, very few models who look as though they come from another dimension'.

Miranda Kerr - A Victoria's Secret Angel by trade, Miranda Kerr is more famously known as Orlando Bloom's girlfriend.

Myf Shepherd - Everyone mistook her for Olga Sherer this season, but hey, she booked a tonne of shows so the girl ain't complaining.

Sarah Stephens - Sarah who? Yeah, that's what i thought too, but getting chosen to be in the Victoria's Secret Show definitely put her on the map!

Skye Stracke - Landing the Lacoste ss09 campaign which Sarah has recently posted, Skye Stracke is crawling her way into people's model archives.

Tallulah Morton - For a while she doing ads for Portmans, now this 17 year old is walking Galliano! Her mascauline yet feminine look doesn't catch on with everybody, do we have room for another Eugenia Volodina?

It's funny really, most of these girls participated in model search contests to get to where they are today. Just off the top of my head, Abbey Lee, Catherine and Sarah all won the Girlfriend Model Search, Miranda won the Dolly Covergirl Competition, Skye won Vivien's Model Search, Gemma was a contestant in the 90's reality show 'Search for a Supermodel' and Alice won Australia's Next Top Model.
